PageRank is simply your website/page's importance relative to other websites on Google. If you have lots of backlink (other websites linking to your website) then your site has higher importance or in other words, higher pagerank. Google lists websites in search results for a specific keyword on basis of their PageRank. So a better pagerank means better or upper position in search results, which in turn means higher traffic from search engines.
If you are not ranked highly on Google - basically on the first couple of pages of Google search engine results for your chosen keywords - then your website might as well not exist as the amount of traffic you will get will be very low. If you rank highly in Google for you chosen keywords then you will get relevant targeted visitors to your site who are going to see your site as a valued resource.
The question is how do you boost your search engine ranking (SEO) and get a good Google Page Rank? Well there are several tips the first being back linking.
1) Back links are links pointed to your site from other internet sites. The more back links you can gain to your site the better your page rank and the higher you will get in the search engine rankings. A good way to do this is to join forums to get links to your site. The best forums is to join are forums that are relevant to your site as Google will see that you are getting targeted links back to your site. It is a great way to advertise your site and build an internet presence for yourself personally.
2) Submit your site to search engine directories. If you do this then you will be enhancing your web presence as you will be recorded on other search engines. This is also another way to get free link back to your site. As always the more links the higher the page rank.
3) If you decide to make an Ezine it can be very beneficial an augment your web presence. By creating an Ezine you will help compel visitors to go to your site regularly. The added bonus of using an Ezine is that you can submit the information about your Emagazine to an Ezine catalog.
These are three good Google page rank tips but as any good webmaster will tell you it is all about continued work so that Google sees your site as active and relevant to make sure you website stays highly ranked.
